My Story
I began my career as a psychologist, and I believe successful nutritional advice isn’t about perfection or judgement, but about having a plan that is tailored to the individual, a plan that is easy to understand, adopt and - above all - stick to! Using a functional whole-body approach, we will seek to address the root cause of your symptoms using personalised diet, supplement, and lifestyle interventions.
I knew from a young age I wanted to understand people better. I had grown up with a dad who had been diagnosed with manic depression, and during his frequent spells in hospital and frustrating lack of improvement, I wanted to find out more about what drove his illness.
My degree in Psychology was fascinating but led to limited insights into how my dad might improve. No amount of psychotherapy seemed to help. For a while I became interested in the criminal mind and went on to complete a PhD in Criminology. I then worked in advertising and consumer research for a while, eventually becoming a planner at Ogilvy & Mather with a liking for champagne and burning the candle at both ends.
Surprising discoveries
It was during this time that two things changed with my dad. First, after many years living with his manic depression diagnosis, a doctor made a radical discovery - my father was actually suffering from chronic fatigue.
This led us to the second surprise. With this new diagnosis, we took him to see a nutritional therapist. She identified that the problem was poor gut health and severe nutritional deficiencies and set him on a new nutritional plan.
It’s fair to say I was blown away. My dad had moved from a ‘hopeless’ case of depression that no amount of pills could cure, to someone who was back to living their full life. And all it took was to eat the right food. At the age of 60 he cycled to Paris!
A change of career
It made my advertising career, the focus groups, the endless client planning meetings, and late nights, seem irrelevant by comparison.
So, I left my job to spend another 3 years studying. But this time it was different. I knew exactly what I wanted to do after. I could see the almost immediate effects diet can often have on a person and the relief it gave their families and loved ones. Nutrition changes peoples’ lives.
A new science
Nutrition is the hardest thing I have ever studied. As a relatively new science, opinions are changing rapidly as we discover more. No wonder it is so confusing for those just wanting to find out how to eat a healthy diet. So, I invite you to benefit from all my hard work. Nothing beats being told you’ve changed someone’s life and knowing that you are arming people with the skills and knowledge to continue to live their best life.
Changing your diet and lifestyle can be really challenging when life is already stressful enough. And as a mum of two teenagers, I know how hard it can also be when you’re trying to please other appetites! Healthy eating is never about judgment or perfection. It’s about finding a food rhythm that works for you and your life, so changes are sustainable.

Motivation
The drivers of many conditions/symptoms are usually multifactorial, and trying to unravel those contributors can feel overwhelming. My job is to help you work methodically through a plan to wellness. But having a treatment plan is one thing, sticking to it is another. As well as being a registered Nutritional Therapist, I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, also known as Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). This is an evidence-based person-centred counselling method that involves enhancing your motivation to make positive changes. This means I can help you both construct and realise your personalised diet and lifestyle programme.
